Tayla is a clinical Social Worker and EMDR Therapist, registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and a member of the EMDR Association of Australia. Over the past decade, she has worked across Lutruwita/Tasmania, beginning with young people and families before moving into one-on-one therapy. Tayla now focuses on supporting adults, mostly women and non-binary folk, to repair their relationship with themselves after trauma.

Tayla has worked as a specialist family violence practitioner since early 2022 and is able to provide trauma-informed family violence counselling, including risk assessment and safety planning, to support you with an experience of intimate partner violence.

Tayla holds a somatic focus, drawing on modalities like Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Polyvagal Theory. Tayla will support you to listen to your body’s signals, restore nervous system balance, and reconnect with a felt sense of safety.

Tayla is an experienced trauma-informed and family violence specialist therapist who is passionate about supporting survivors. Tayla has experienced childhood grief and loss, and like many therapists, her lived experience of trauma drew her towards understanding the human brain and supporting others to reconnect to themselves after trauma.

In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, pilates, reading fiction, and meandering walks with her adopted dog, Vinny. Tayla has lived in the beautiful Nipaluna, Hobart most of her life and is currently renovating a 104-year-old Hobart home.

Tayla's mission is to create a compassionate and caring community through providing care to survivors of trauma, abuse and violence.

Tayla specialises in, and people who usually seek Tayla out are:

  • Womxn identifying folks who are experiencing or wishing to recover from various domestic, family traumas and abuses.

  • Our childhood ‘stuff’ can show up unexpectedly and in many different ways, especially in our adult intimate relationships. Attachment is the primary basis on which we form and maintain relationships. Some things make us more vulnerable or susceptible to being preyed upon or mistreated. Let’s unpack.

  • Using various social theories and models, such as ecosystems, biopsychosocial models, anti-oppressive theory and more, exploring the impact of environment on person is a non-judgemental, compassionate approach to work through what people are experiencing.
